Station Stories is a series of photographs that captures the fleeting moments in the busy life of the city. I am a people’s person and photography has been my driving passion since years, what brings them together is these secret stolen moments out of the ordinary lives of all extraordinary individuals around me hustling through the struggles of daily lives, they may look different than me, may dress different than me but inside we all are the same, maybe that’s why we all connect to each other so well? It is the little things, relationships, and struggles, emotion that we all co-relate on.
These photographs reveal the journey that I have taken to and from the city, the daily life commute of innumerable individuals. As I started making photographs while being a commuter, sometimes the journey itself had become more important to me than the image. Maybe it’s the process, the beauty of being an observer, or the human presence that instilled me to look out the window. Maybe that’s all we need to do to make our day better, pause, and look outside the window, maybe we would find what we are looking for.
The main thread that connects these images is the stillness and alienation of the station and commuters, the inherent mystery in them, a reflection of myself in others, the energy around us. My camera has allowed me to look in the lives of others and blur the differences and make a connection to the world.
It is the realization that random passersby are living a life as vivid and complex as our own—populated with their own ambitions, worries, routines, friends, and inherited craziness that has inspired me to begin this project. This project, as a street photographer has allowed me to share what the images already say and what the images couldn’t share - the expression and connection to the world.
