The World of Duality
The world of duality is a series of photographs that is a snippet of my love for trees, its branches and leaves. There is some raw honesty in their bare bones that is hard to resist and allows me to lose myself in the woods for mysterious adventures and find my soul. The co-existence of little pieces of the world to be beautiful and horrifying, at the same time. The reality, that you can never compete with nature, neither in beauty nor in strength. I think the whole process of nature is to show us how truly insignificant we really are.
It’s amazing to see what the world will show us, if we just take a moment to look around us. These photographs force us to look at trees as they really are, as they strip off all artificialities. I can feel the bone structure in the landscape, the loneliness of it, the dead feeling, as if something waits beneath it- the whole story doesn't show. As I look at them, I can imagine myself being there, in the woods, where it is so quiet, I can hear myself breathe. The photographs express hope, as the barren branches of trees still standing tall after painfully cold nights and the howling winds are like survivors - survivors of the snow. What I love most about trees is their loyalty, they allow us to make memories, find us around the bend of the road, or in the middle of the park or behind a tall building in the solitude to allow us to think, to talk, to kiss and sometimes to cry. The beauty of using camera as a tool, is its ability to take the most ordinary things and, transform them into absolute magic.
It is the realization that nature is a painting in itself, day after day, photos of infinite beauty. Sometimes a grim, grey, rainy day, a fresh layer of snow, can turn a familiar place into something completely new and bring out the textures more beautifully than a bright sunny day. The quietness, the cold and the surrounding beauty of beautiful strong trees has inspired me to do this project. This project, as a fine art photographer has made me has inspired me to create this project. It also made me understand that it is not about what you see, but how one looks at it and that a change in perspective can change a photograph, its meaning and connection to myself, my soul and the world.
Be here now. Pause for a minute. Truly. Take in the smells, the scenery, the chills. Be still now.
